Reasons For The Civil War - 1516 Words

Kaylea Simas U.S. History Mr. Burkey 11 December 2015 The Civil War There had been many misunderstandings between the North and the South in the years that led up to the Civil War, but the most tragic misunderstanding of all was that neither side realized, until it was too late, that the other side was desperate. Not until the war had actually begun would men see that their rivals really meant to fight? By that time it was too late to do anything but go on fighting. Southerners had been talking secession for many years, and most people in the North had come to look on such talk as a counter in the game of politics. The reasons for war for the two sides were very simple. The Confederacy would fight for independence, the North for re-establishment of the Union. So far, slavery itself was definitely not an issue. The North was far from unity at this point and it was extremely important for Lincoln to keep the support of the Northern Democrats, most of whom had little or no objection to the continuation of slavery in the south. However, bo th Lincoln and Congress itself stated that they wanted to restore the Union without interfering with any of the other states. While the Civil War was fought to preserve the Union and free the African Americans, the winners pursed the former objective only. Although released from slavery, the African Americans eventually paid the price of national unification. My Recipe for Happiness free essay sample

Happiness. What a great word!!! Happiness one thing that exists in everyone. Whether its being happy about icecream, school, sunshine, friends or a tv show everyone feels happiness at least once in their life. Now, some people might not find happiness for a longer period of time. They look and search and invest time all for nothing. Happiness is giving. Giving things without wanting to get anything back. Happiness means trusting yourself. Money. Many people believe that fame and fortune causes happiness. Last Summer I went to my mums friends in Germany. They own a big company. I dont think I want to know how many millions they own. These people never watched the news. One evening I asked them why they never turned on the television. (A big plasma screen with HD effect and the internet.) The answer shocked me. Well they said. We cant stand to watch news with all these people starving and wars going on. We will write a custom essay sample on My Recipe for Happiness or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page These people who had thirteen cars mostly old timers werent able to watch the news because they felt bad. Bad that they had so much money and werent able to share. They were stuck with their money. Fame doesnt cause happiness either. If it would then Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson wouldnt be looking down on us. Happiness is the output of love and affection. Happiness is the real you. I may be young, fourteen to be precise, but one thing I know, one thing I have experienced is: Everything we describe as bad or unlucky is not bad misfortune. It is an important lesson we have to learn or something that will make you stronger. Happiness is being able to ask why someone acts a particular way. Happiness is being able to love the ones that have been hurt, broken and betrayed once too many times. Happiness is simply everything.

Seasonable vs. Seasonal

Seasonable vs. Seasonal The words seasonable and seasonal both relate to the seasons of the year, but their meanings arent quite the same. The adjective seasonable means usual or suitable for a particular season of the year; taking place at an appropriate time. The adjective seasonal means relating to, dependent on, or characteristic of a particular season of the year. See Usage Notes, below. Examples After enduring two years of severe drought, we are finally enjoying some seasonable weather this summer. The old English song â€Å"John Barleycorn Must Die† describes the seasonal ritual of rendering grain into ale. Usage Notes Heat and humidity are seasonable here in summer means theyre normal for this season of the year. Sentimentality is seasonal at Christmas means its typical or characteristic of Christmas seasons. Seasonable can also mean opportune or in time, as in Their arrival was seasonable, just when we hoped for it.
